What are the consequences of missing teeth?

Oh no! You have lost a tooth and now you are worried about its possible consequences. We know that one of our patients' biggest concerns is knowing what consequences a missing tooth entails and how they can avoid them.

The lack of teeth can cause oral and digestive diseases and even have an impact on our mental health. Because of the latter, many patients wonder how they can hide a missing tooth. But this question, from our point of view, is not correct, since it is not only about hiding the missing tooth, but about remedying it.

The consequences caused by missing teeth:

Gingivitis or periodontitis

When a tooth falls out or is extracted, a space in the gum. Food debris and tartar tend to accumulate in this space, which causes mild gum disease. gingivitis. This small gum disease can end up damaging soft tissue and destroying bone, causing adjacent teeth to weaken. It can also produce periodontitis

Chewing problems:

When chewing food, it will impact with greater force on the empty space in the gum, which causes discomfort. We may also end up tending to chew more on one side than the other, overloading the teeth of that area and causing them to wear out faster.

These chewing problems can end up causing more serious health problems, such as poor digestion, because we do not grind food properly.

Tooth displacement:

As we have said before, When you lose a tooth, an empty space is left in the gum.. Adjacent teeth have a tendency to move and occupy that space, causing dental malocclusions or crowding

Malocclusion is when the top and bottom do not fit well. This causes some teeth to wear down more and can cause jaw pain.

Bone loss:

If not remedied in time, the void in the gum can cause the maxillary bone is resorbed. In the long run, this can become a big problem, since the loss of bone will make it difficult to place the dental implant, or it will be necessary to perform bone grafts to recover that lost bone.

For these more complicated cases, in our clinic we have a special treatment, the zygomatic implant.

Aesthetic problems:

When we lose a tooth our smile changes completely. This causes us to begin to cover our mouth when smiling or avoid it, causing us insecurity. Also It also affects our image, since by having an incomplete smile, we begin to convey a neglected and aged image.

Mental health:

The insecurities mentioned above lead us to try not to smile, which makes us and the people around us uncomfortable. In turn, it makes us feel ashamed and lose confidence.

Last but not least, it makes it difficult for us to pronounce, hindering our communication with other people.

So that you don't have to go through all these problems, At Dental Corbella we have dental implants for all cases. Immediate loading implants, so that you can smile normally in one day and zygomatic implants, so that bone loss does not prevent you from having a perfect smile again.
