Red or swollen gums?
In general, it is usually due to inflammation of the tissues and bones that support the teeth, this is usually caused by the accumulation of plaque.
Plaque is a layer of germs that forms on teeth and gums, and is usually the cause of this disease. The bacteria in plaque produce toxins that irritate and damage the gums. Untreated gum disease can be very serious, causing teeth to shift or even fall out. Hence the importance of dental care.
Gum disease can be difficult to detect. Sometimes it may not cause pain or irritation before causing permanent injury. Therefore, visits to the dentist are an obligation.
